Fair & Precious: the ATIBT program that promotes legal and certified wood from the Congo basin

The International Tropical Timber Technical Association is pursuing its commitment and actions in order to effectively fight against unsustainable logging and illegal timber trade. This is made possible through its Fair & Precious program that aims to protect and manage the still-threatened African forests. Whether through respect for protected timber species and logging diameters, protection of seed trees, low-impact logging methods or even 25- to 30-year rotations that involve rest periods, implementation of these measures as well as initiatives taken for the conservation of forests and biodiversity will stimulate progress of legal and certified wood.
